Q: how to restore from external hard disk

When trying to restore new hard disk, using super duper and an external hard drive, I can´t restore to the internal hard disk

MacBook, iOS 7.0.4

Did you format internal new HDD? if not, boot from external HDD then format with DiskUtility.

Does the MBP boot from the external HDD? If so, is the internal HDD recognized in Disk Utility? If so, what is format of the internal HDD?
