Q: Unable to open web sites
Today I have been unable to open two websites :
(1) My log in to Hotmail a/c
and
(2) My log in to American Express.
I normally access both by a bookmark. When I try to do so the web site address appears in the 'go to' box in Firefox - but nothing then happens.
If I try to access by using an address in google or opera - same thing happens.
This did not happen yesterday!
All my other bookmarks work fine, as does any link via a search engine. Except for these two !
This does not happen when using my iPad. Both sites work are fine working as normal.
Reboots etc have not solved this
Any suggestions please?

Thanks for your comments on Avast.
My current problem has now been solved - I did a complete re-install of El Capitan overnight - and Voila! My problem has gone. The mysteries (to me) of computers!
