Q: Disappearing e-mail on my iPad mini - never on my PC.  How to fix this?

Recently, my iPad Mini (IOS 9.3.5) is having an e-mail disappearing issue.  I have a PC that I get e-mail using the Outlook program and never loose mail.  This e-mail downloads to my iPad Mini and iPhone as well, but can all of a sudden do the disappearing act from my inbox folder on my iPad Mini ONLY.  One time it wiped out all my folders on the iPad leaving them completely empty.    THIS IS AN IPAD PROBLEM!!!!! that Apple doesn't seem to have a clue about what is going on.  How ridiculous!!!  They charge an enormous price for their products but don't have an answer to this problem?  Outrageous!

Someone out there.....please, if you have discovered a solution to the problem, I really would like to know.  My iPad is my main go-to for e-mail and this problem is beyond serious.  I've researched all kinds of solutions but so far, no-one has come up with anything.  After all, Apple has top notch technicians and they don't have a clue????

Hmmm.... That's strange, since is was Apple support that solved the problem for me.

I don't know what kind of internet setup you have. However, if you have an ISP (like ATT, Yahoo, etc.), you'll find an archive of your emails there.. This is important to know if you're aching to acquire an email you can't find. This is your golden umbrella.

First, confirm the accuracy of the account information from your ISP. You'll need the Name, email, password, and your personal description of the account.

Second, save or archive your email settings so you always have them at hand.

Finally, go to Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars/ and delete the account info on your iPad. When you add the new account info, choose the appropriate account listed; if nothing applies, choose "Other." You can add the Cloud information after entering the email info.

Confirm that the information is correct by sending yourself emails.

How did you configure Outlook on the PC? Did you configure it to access POP3 server, IMAP4 or Exchange? If it's configured to access POP3 mail server and it's set to delete, Outlook can download the entire content of your mailbox and remove all of them from the server. Your iPad will not be able to see anything, hence the email disappearing problem you're experiencing.

If your iPad iOS mail is configured to access IMAP4 server (that is, connecting directly to your mailbox on the server side) and after Outlook downloads the entire content of your Inbox and wipes it clean, you will see the "disappearing act" on the iPad. Outlook software has all of your mailbox content because it has downloaded and stored all of them in your PC storage (hard drive).

I am not convinced (yet) until you check your settings on both devices. My initial clue says that you are using the above configurations.
