Q: Wifi devices disable internet connection

There's usually a limit of 3 wifi devices that connect to my home network without problems. But as more children wake up, and more devices turn on, the connection to the internet goes out. The wifi network remains intact, just no internet. A hard reset on the modem always fixes the problem, but I've grown tired of running down to the basement everyday. I use a Comtrend modem/wireless router with an ethernet extension to a Apple Airport Time Capsule which acts as a Roaming network (just give the same network name and password to the Time Capsule) and then I have a strong signal in all corners of the house. I do not have this problem when I run the modem/wireless router in bridge mode with the wifi turned off, but then I only have a strong wifi signal (from the Time Capsule) in half the house. Does anyone know if there are settings I can tweak to try to remedy this situation?

Suggest that you call Comtrend and ask them how to increase the number of connections on the modem/router. If they have it locked down at a max of 3 connections, then there is not going to be much else that you can do other than add another AirPort router and connect it directly to the Comtrend (which will be in Bridge Mode).

Set up the AirPort connected to the Comtrend as your "main" router and continue the Ethernet connection to the Time Capsule, which will "extend" your network.

With two AirPorts acting as wireless access points, you should have good coverage throughout the house.
