So, I've got a valid RSS and XML file but I keep getting an error email from apple, what gives?

I worked through getting a podcast validated on W3C as well as podcast connect. The RSS is valid and no errors come up but then a few minutes after submission, I get this message... Anyone have any ideas why?

Dear podcast owner,

An error was encountered while trying to add your feed, [ http://stevencasco.com/audio/cnp2.rss ].

I can't find anything seriously wrong with the feed: it validates in Podcasts Connect, it can be subscribed to in iTunes, the media files behave as expected and there are no redirects or other problem causers in place that I can see.

However it is missing the declaration at the very beginning of the feed:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Evidently this isn't upsetting the validators, or even Podcasts Connect, so I don't know whether it might be an issue, but it would be worth your adding it (make sure that there is absolutely nothing before it in the feed).

If that doesn't work all I can suggest is that you wait for a couple of days and try again (in case it's some sort of glitch at Apple's end) and if it still doesn't work try contacting Support: make sure to emphasize that it passes all the usual tests. Go to https://itunespartner.apple.com/en/podcasts/overview and click the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the page.
