HHello my question is since I already have series 1 of the Apple watch, does that mean I need to buy another watch in order to get the water resistance ?

Water resistance is a physical seal on the watch that is not present on the first one.
Well I guess I'll just keep the watch I have already I can't see myself buying a hold new watch just for the water resistance
For water resistance to 50m, you would need to purchase a Series 2 Apple Watch.
