Q: Ducking Stopped Working in iMovie10

I am in the middle of a project where I have used audio ducking to mute the backing track when a voiceover comes on.  All worked fine for the first couple I tried, however now NONE of them are working.  I have the 'Lower Volume of Other Clip' box checked and the slider is adjusted (just as it was before).  The backing track just continues on at the same volume through the voiceover.  Highly annoying!!  Is there a bug that someone knows of that would have made this feature stop working??

Cheers for any suggestions.

I haven't seen this problem posted before. Do you see a visual change in the volume level line but the actual sound level doesn't change or does the volume line indication not change either? This would seem to be a glitch so try restarting iMovie holding down the command and option keys and select delete preferences. A workaround is to use keyframes to do the ducking.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply.  No there is no visual change in the volume level line. I agree that it is most likely a glitch.  I haven't finished the project yet and am terrified of shutting iMovie down completely and losing my work before I'm done (speaking from painful experience).  I have used keyframes to do the ducking for now - which is fine, though it is a bit clunkier than it was.  Once I've got a finished project and have saved the file - I will try restarting and deleting preferences.

    Cheers again
