Windows 10 Sound Not Working.

I finally was able to successfully install Windows 10 on My iMac Late 2011 21.5 inch. Everything is working fine, the keyboard and everything, BUT THERE IS NO SOUND, yes, I have installed the latest Boot Camp Drivers to my USB and repaired/installed them multiple times, YES, I have the latest OSX right now, what else can I do this is very frustrating everytime I press the volume buttons they give me Circle with a line thru it symbol and I can't do anything about it, Please help, I will provide any information necessary.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

You 2011 Mac does not officially support Windows 10. However, you can upgrade from W7/W8.1 to W10. It preserves the BIOS/MBR installation that is necessary for Sound to work.

Thanks for the reply! So basically I should delete this windows 10 partition, then make another one with a Windows 8 iso, after I install the windows 8, I should then upgrade to Windows 10 within 8 right? and I will then have sound?

Please ensure that you do not use EFI boot to install W7/W8.1.

I'm a bit confused... When you say don't use EFI boot , do you mean that I can't use a USB to install it?

On 2011 Mac, if you use a USB, it does not support MBR-boot properly, but does support EFI Boot. If you use EFI boot, you cannot see Audio devices.

If you use a physical DVD, the 2011 Macs will do the right thing, if BC Assistant is followed and no manual intervention is used.

I only have a physical disk for Windows vista though, Will I still be able to upgrade using that?

Vista will not work as stated in this link. You can upgrade Vista to W7 and then upgrade to W10.

Latest OS: Make sure you are running the latest version of either Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update. Don’t know which version you are running? Check here to find out. Need to download the latest version? Click here for Windows 7 SP1or Windows 8.1 Update.

Hi, I'm back and I successfully installed Windows Vista on my iMac using the physical dvd that I have, but there is no sound, and i cant connect to my wifi either, I looked for the Windows vista 32 bit bootcamp drivers, and i tried to install them but they wouldnt open, I'm stuck now because I can't connect to wifi to upgrade this windows vista to 7. Please help, thanks!

Your iMac needs 64-bit drivers. Can you try Boot Camp - Windows Vista 64 Update 2.1 ? Download this from the OS X side to a USB, and then boot into Windows and run the exe file.

This version of windows vista is 32bit, thats why i downloaded the 32 bit version Boot Camp - Windows Vista 32 Update 2.1, i just tried to install the 64bit drivers but i got the error, that "the version of this file is not compatible with the version you're running." On the case of this install dvd it says *includes 32-bit software, I will try to open the 32 bit drivers again. edit // just tried to open it again, didnt open at all.

What is the error you get when you try to execute the 32-bit drivers? Was it downloaded using a wireless connection from Apple? Does the ethernet connection on the back of your iMac work in Windows?

When i try to execute the 32bit drivers, no error, it just doesnt open at all, nothing happens. I downloaded it on my seperate macbook air, then put it on the USB. I haven't tried to use an ethernet cable on my iMac on windows, but i'm thinking that burning Windows 10 iso to a blank dvd would work fine, would it? edit // I also forgot to mention that I used a Windows Anytime Upgrade disc to install Windows Vista

You will need to get to W7 to be able to upgrade to W10. The W10 Iso burnt to DVD should work on W7. Check Control Panel and verify whether you have 32-bit to 64-bit Vista.
