Q: Change Apple ID without resetting to factory

I gave an iPad to my daughter, but since she was little, I just used my Apple ID. Now that she is old enough, I want to change the Apple ID and info on just her iPad. How can I do this without resetting my own password (I accidentally did that already), or resetting/deleting all her games and apps? Thanks!

The apps downloaded to an iPad are tied to the Apple ID they were purchase from (even if they were free). It is not possible to change the ID and retain the apps. This article may help:

    Hello,

There is a way to do this. While it is correct that purchases cannot be transferred between Apple IDs, there are other options. Option 1: you can change the Apple ID itself to a different email address. This is the least preferred method and you would lose access to that content yourself. The more preferred way is to setup family sharing. First thing to do is sign out of iCloud on the iPad Mini. Then create a new account for her. Once that is done sign in on the iPad using her Apple ID. Now go to a device you are keeping for yourself. Go into Settings > iCloud. There should be an option to "Set Up Family Sharing". Tap on that and follow the on-screen instructions. This will setup your Apple ID as the head of household, so you moderate who is in the family or not. Depending on what you selected, you can share apps, movies, music, and podcasts. You can also share the same credit card, so all purchases made on all accounts under the family are charged to a single card. You can set up spending limits and auto credits I believe so you don't have to sell a kidney, if you choose to share the billing info. And thats it! The content should have remained on the iPad, and if she deletes one, she can re-download it at no extra charge. Same with any movies and music you may have purchased.

    Hope this helps!
