Q: The duration of the photos i imported won't change

The duration of the photos i imported won't change, and they're stuck on a duration of anywhere between 0.1 and 0.5 seconds. Someone suggested i take off the ken burns and i did that but it still didn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Anyone know how to fix the duration?

Go to iMovie/Preferences and adjust the default duration of your photos in the duration box.   In projects created after that, imported photos will have the default duration that you set.

For photos already imported into the time line of a project, group select them or select them individually and then, in the toolbar at the top of your screen, click on the button that looks like an "i" with a circle around it.  A duration box will appear to the right.  Type in your duration and then hit the return key on your keyboard.   Your selected pictures all will have the duration that  you set.

    Hope this helps,

Can you not extend them in the timeline in the usual way (selecting and dragging the yellow borders)?  With such a short starting duration you will need to stretch the timeline first by moving the slider to the left of 'Settings' to the right.
