Q: Listening and charging at the same time - iPhone 7

Hello,

I'm a student who is strapped for cash commonly; my bi-yearly iPhone plan is my only real thing I can afford to spoil myself with. It's coming up to my new phone, but there is only one external port on the iPhone 7, I'm someone who commonly uses his phone to watch youtube while charging it for when I go to and from University. I understand why Apple wants to remove the headphone port, and I welcome the change but how can I listen to the phone using headphones (not to be annoying to other people I live with) and charge my phone at the same time if there is only one external port?

I'm not a wealthy person who could buy adapters (Apple adapters are usually like 60+ AUD which is like 2-3 weeks worth of food for me), and I don't want to live off my family...

Is there anything announced by Apple? As I didn't see anything on their broadcast.

Kind regards,

There was nothing about it in the announcement today. They did, however, make a point of saying the battery life was much improved on the new phones.

You can use BT headsets while charging the phone. They can frequently be had for a decent price. Third parties may come up with adapters. We'll just have to wait and see.

And that is still the case. Charger and headphones come with. Anything additional you will need to purchased.

I don't think anyone is really listening to what he's saying. He is a college student on limited budget. He can't just go out and buy BT headphones or Airpods. Or an adapter that may or may not be built in the future. ADKJoey, as far as I know, the answer is, No. There is not currently an option for your situation. You can not charge and listen to the device at the same time. Any solution will cost you more money. It ***** I've read that there is a charging dock that will work for what you are trying to do, but its $49 I'll post here if I find something around $20 that might even be out of your range.

Unfortunately yes. The lowest I can find is iPhone Lightning Dock but it still costs you $49. Or you can wait for third party products that are normally cheaper.

Yes, they made that quite clear. The thing about being broke is that it means you have to without things you might want.

(When I was a broke college student, I ate rice and beans every night for dinner and struggled to buy my course books. Buying a high end luxury product was barely even a fantasy.)

True. However all the cell companies offer iphones for free with contracts or like t-mobile for about $27 month.

For folks other than our college student

I've this problem also, but it might be interesting to note that companies are offering solutions: http://www.belkin.com/uk/F8J198/p/P-F8J198/

However at $39/£35, it's a little bit of an inconvenience.

Free? No such thing as free lunch.

I heard some teenager in China sold their body part (kidney?) to buy an iPhone. Not sure if that's a true story. Who cares about health... electronics is more important.
