Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I understand from your post that after updating your MacBook Air you get a black screen. I know how important it is for your MacBook Air to be running smoothly for you. In a situation like this I recommend restarting your Mac in safe mode and testing it. Then, restart as normal and test it again.Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up
Starting up in safe mode
Follow these steps to start up into safe mode.
- Start or restart your Mac.
- Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
- Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.
Best Regards
