Q: Solid State Drive "Wakes" Slowly

I installed a 1 TB SATA solid state drive from Other World Computing into my early 2009 iMac.  Works great with one exception.  When I put it to sleep, it takes 30 - 40 seconds to wake up.  I understand I don't need to put a SSD to sleep because it has no moving parts.  And, when I put my sleep setting on "never" the problem doesn't occur.  That still doesn't explain why it takes so long to "wake up" when I do put the SSD to sleep.  Is it possible the disk has a flaw?  Should I return it or is this a "not to worry"?  Any insight as to why this occurs?
