Q: Macbook pro retina (Early 2015) keyboard not working
Hi,
I have keyboard problems on my Early 2015 Macbook Pro Retina 13". I have two different problems which might or might not be related.
Problem #1 (my major concern): My internal keyboard stopped working. The keys seem to respond during bootup (reacts to key combinations when doing SMC, PRAM resets) but it does not respond once the system is up and running.
Problem #2: When using the external USB Mac keyboard plugged into the left side USB slot it's not working. When plugging it into the right side USB slot it is working. Also when using the range extension cable delivered with the keyboard, it works on both sides. A different Mac keyboard works on both sides without issues.
I read through the community and found several related issues but none of them solved my problem permanently:
I deactivated native instruments hardware agent as well as android file transfer. Deactivating android file transfer actually brought my internal keyboard back to life once. But now since android file transfer is no longer deactivated I don't know how to fix the issue anymore.
I reset SMC and PRAM to no effect.
What might factor in to this issue, is that I had a couple of occurences where my hard disk space was extremely low and I got messages from some programs that they could not continue working with the low hard disk space. Maybe some files are corrupted.
I'm not 100% certain but I think, that most of the time when the issue came up, I was debugging my android phone (USB debugging) or my iPhone.
My assumption is, that something with the USB controller is wrong and I need to reset/re-install it to get everything back to working again. Appreciate any help I can get.
Regards
David
