Q: Invisible photo albums

Hi- I have an iPad running iOS 9.3.5. I have iCloud photo sharing turned off and I am not syncing the iPad with a computer. I have one photo album now in Photos (I had more before I tried resolving this problem), but when I put a a photo into and then delete it, it says "This photo will also be deleted from 3 albums." Like I said, I currently have 1 album. Any time I delete the album, create a new one and put a photo in, the number of albums it claims my photos are in rises, though there's only one visible on the screen. I can't figure out where these zombie albums are; does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks.

I had noticed and tried sending two replies via email. Methinks the email address is different. In ES-ASC it was discussions•no•replies, here I get discussions•replies. I'm off to ES-ASC to see if I can find the address.

To test, I just looked at an historic notice from ES-ASC "SENDER address" which it what a Mail client uses as the "REPLY TO address"

Hi again- no change after restarting as described. It still says my photos are in albums I've deleted and can't see.

IM not sure what else to try now. Have you updated to iOS 10 or have you no desire to do so? Sometimes, updating can get rid of flakey things like this.

IF you don't want to update, you could try restoring the device. Back up. Restore to factory settings. Restore the backup.
Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
