Q: iPhone7+: what type to glass is used in the display

I tried to find in the apple tech description for the new iPhone7+ but didn't see any mention of the type of glass used in the display. Where can I find info on this?

Type of glass

Rating for scratch resistance

Rating for break resistance

Hoping that it is saphire glass but if it is not mentioned, probably same glass as previous iphone6s+.

Thanks

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Speculation is prohibited by the Apple Support Communities Terms of Use.

If it's not listed in the specs, we have no way of answering that question.

Pretty soon one of the testing labs will get an iPhone 7 and run it through some tests.  Perhaps they will make some comments on the glass.

    Thanks

Saphire glass reportedly costs 10 times (or more) as much to make as Corning's and other companies current tenpered high strength glass(es) already in use. It's also heavier as it's over half again as dense as tempered glasss. Also, at the thinknesses typically used for smart phone screens, it would likely be even more likely to shatter than tempered glass since synthetic sapphire is more brittle than tempered glass (note that synthetic saphire watch crystals are much thicker than a typical smart phone glass sheet).

So all saphire glass offers is higher scratch resistence, less shatter resistance, and much higher cost. I have no idea why so many people want manufacturers to use it.
