Q: messages is mixing up conversations on MBP
Hi,
I have this problem for a long while...
I use messages on my MBP a lot, but it has one big problem:
It mixes the conversations between my parents.
So both te conversations i receive from my mom and dad are shown as one conversation.
I tried to delete all the correspondenting plist files and tried to re-login the messages app but it won't work.
I am afraid that deleting the conversation wil delete it also from my phone.
(on my phone works everything fine BTW)
Hopefully someone has a solution.

Hi,
iMessages deleted on one device are not deleted on another.
"Sync" in this case only means "Display on All Registered Devices".
iMessages on the Mac and iPhone "Sync" names and iPhone Numbers using the info in the Contacts app.
That means on both devices the Contact Card(s) for your parents need to have separate info for them.
The Apps on each needs to sync via the same method such as iCloud or Google (or other service) but not multiple sources.
After that you have to check if they are sending to the iPhone Number when you are talking on the iPhone and the Apple ID on the Mac.
That is to say if the iPhone and Mac are not syncing Contacts lists then how your parents contact you may be different on each device allowing for the separation in the conversations.
