so I was cleaning up my storage and saw my mail had 9gb. I deleted the accounts to clean that up. Yet, it's still there. I've restarted my phone at least six times. It's still there yet the accounts are gone.

If your backup is to iTunes, make sure it's encrypted.
I'm curious, why do you recommend an encrypted iTunes backup in this case? I understand encrypted iTunes backup will include certain information that other backups don't, such as:
What does this have to do with the mail storage? Again, just curious.
I have no mail accounts yet it says that there's 9gb being taken up by mail
