Q: On my iMac, Apple.com is my homepage; the last window said "We have something special in store for you", and now when I open Safari (10.6.8) the window is blank.

Why is my Apple.com homepage now a blank window?  I am using Safari 10.6.8.

Safari > Preferences > Privacy > click on Remove All Website Data.  This will clear Safari caches and force the page to reload.

BTW, 10.6.8 is OS X version, not Safari version. You can find it by clicking on the About Safail option.

Yesterday Apple had their September event video come up when the user launched Safari. The problem is that the event's streaming video required a newer version of Safari that can run under OS 10.6.8. THat's probably why you had the blank screen.

I followed  your instructions, and there was no change.  I am using Safari 5.1.10, sorry about the goof, my coffee hadn't kicked in yet apparently.

The event is no longer streaming on the homepage, at least it isn't when I launch the website from Chrome.  I realize my browser is old, as is my OS.  I am one of those morons who don't want to lose Front Row, which I use frequently.  I know there are workarounds involving changing the plist and library/core services and stuff, but I am afraid I will screw something up and make matters worse. I may just have to get used to a blank homepage or decide on another one to set it to.
