Sep 8, 2016 11:47 PM in response to LarryHNby plantsrock,Thanks Larry,
Are you sure the time machine saves photos in iPhoto too ? I thought it only saved files , documents...
And Time machine isn't what I'm looking for because let's say I want to plug my USB with backed up photos into someone else's computer it's super hard to navigate through the time machine !
Cheers,
Céline

Sep 9, 2016 5:26 AM in response to plantsrockby LarryHN,Of course I'm sure that TimeMachine backs up the Photos library - As I said I use TM daily and I would not have suggested it otherwise - the Photos library is simply a special folder called a Package that contains many files - for a system stand point nothing different than a work document
and of course your new requirement that you use the EHD with other systems totally changes things of course, when you do not provide full details you do not get full answers
How do you want to access the photos and from what systems? Another Mac with the exact same OS and version of Photos? A PC? Another Mac with a different OS and version of Photos -- for anything except another Mac with identical software there is not solution I am aware of, it may exist but I doubt it

Sep 9, 2016 6:51 AM in response to plantsrockby léonie,I like iPhotos to see my photos,
Are you using iPhoto or Photos form ac? "Photos" isa bit ambiguous.
If you are using Photos for Mac and iCloud Photo Library, you may need to backup the original image files separately, because they may be only in iCloud. Other than that, the backup of the Photos library with Time Machine will work the same as for iPhoto.
