Q: early 2009 mac pro - new monitor?

Looking for ideas to upgrade monitor for the mac pro I have....   I have the apple display that works - 20" but looking for a larger one that will work with it...  Do I need to upgrade the video card?   what other thoughts?

    The stock GT 120 card can't drive a 4K display at 4K.

    The max is

    • Support for digital resolutions up to 2560 by 1600 pixels
    • Support for analog resolutions up to 2048 by 1536 pixels
    • Video adapters available for:
      • Additional DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (optional)
      • Additional dual-link DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (optional)
      • VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter or DVI to VGA Display Adapter (optional)

I would get a monitor with either a mini displayport input or displayport input. For the later yo need a mini displayport-displayport cable
