    Arnab,

An OS X upgrade completely replaces and deletes the previous operating system, and retains all other user data.

Are you having any specific problems?

    Hi Fred,

Actually whenever a system update is available, it gets downloaded and installed twice from App Store. I have no clue regarding this issue. However it is not any problem to me right now but what is actually recommended, a clean install of new macOS(when it will arrive) or simple upgrade method?

I have noted others with a similar problem, and I'm not sure what the solution is for that. Perhaps someone else will chime in on this thread with an answer for the double down load from the App Store. Additional files are not installed when that happens.

When Sierra is released, make sure that you have a suitable backup, and then use the upgrade which is offered by the App Store. In my experience you will only be offered that upgrade once.
