Skip a slide when transitioning

With keynote in play, use the keyboard to enter the number of the slide then press the enter key.

The way I handled transitions is that I created intermediate slides ("From 1 to 3" & "From 7 to 3"). Links now point at these transition slides that start out as Slides 1 or 7 respectively and then do some stuff to end up as Slide 3. Only then should the real Slide 3 appear.

Don't use extra slides, use Builds instead.

as an example: link from slide 1 to slide 3 when an image shows then dissolves to reveal the content of slide 3

• add an image to slide 3 and size to fill the slide
• click to select the image
• Inspector > Animate > Build Out > Add an Effect use Dissolve
• click on the Build Order button
• in the Build Order List, click the Start dropdown menu and select; After Transition
• change the delay to 3.00 secs

add or change additional content and animations to slide 3 as you need.

what if I would like a different image to dissolve when I come form Slide 7...?

Duplicate slide 3 then link to that slide from slide 7

Add the differing content you want included on the duplicated slide 7, again using a Build Out on the objects.

The main problem is that when clicking the link, there is no 'Build Out' possible.

The build out is performed on an object on slide 3, read my suggestion again and try it.

It directly jumps to Slide 3, and since there are different links pointing to Slide 3, it cannot be solved by a 'Build In' as per your suggestion.

As I suggested in point 1, duplicate slide 3 then link to that slide and add the different content you want included, again using a Build Out on the object on slide 3.

I did not suggest using a build in.
