Q: iTunes no longer importing ePub files
I've downloaded some ePub files (not bought from iBooks) onto my iPhone (iPhone 6, running 9.3.5), and I want to transfer them to iBooks on my MacBook Pro (El Capitan 10.11.6). Normally, I choose 'Devices' from the iTunes menu and then 'Transfer purchases', which usually does the trick.
However, this has completely stopped working, and I seem unable to get any of my ePub files from my phone to my MacBook. iCloud syncing is not a possibility for me – the last time I tried that, it deleted ~85% of my iBooks library, and the only way to recover the files was to access the hidden iBooks iCloud folder via the terminal. Even then, it wiped all my metadata and I had to reorganise my whole collection, so now I stick to doing it manually.
I have 'Sync Bookmarks and Notes' and 'Sync Collections' activated on my iPhone, and iCloud syncing switched off on my Mac. 'Hide iCloud books' is deactivated on both.
Anyone got any suggestions?
