Q: How do I give permission to open files after a complete transfer to a MBA
I transferred my old 2008 macbook to a 2014 MBA and the user files can't be opened because I don't have permissions. How do I give permission---I am the admin.
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Yes. Using System Preferences > Users & Groups, delete any migrated User Accounts that you do not want.
Perhaps what you wanted to do was to replace an existing User Account with an identically named one on your other Mac. MA will assign them unique names in the event of a naming conflict, resulting in an essentially duplicated Account. It tells you it's going to do that, but the applicable dialog is easily overlooked.
