Q: Phantom Security update (Wednesday) since restart I can’t save images from web…Help?
Yesterday (Wednesday 8th September) I checked my desktop App Store for updates. There were three updates 'Collage 3 version 3.6.0, GIPHY capture version 2.4 and an El Capitan Security Update. I updated. The apps updated. The computer restarted.
Since that restart
• I can't pull images from the Internet to the desktop.
• When I try type into a browser address bar, TextEdit, twitter Notes when pressing the space bar the curser jumps from the application. to another folder in an open folders window clicking spacebar again opens a dialog box containing the folder details. After that clicking the spacebar open and closes the folder (if there are no folder windows open, hitting the spacebar when typing doesn’t cause it to jump out of the text area being typed.
• in security and privacy/ general when I click the lock to make changes. It opens and the username/ password permissions I click (blue) unlock button a click sounds, the security & privacy dialogue box shimmers then no further effect, the lock doesn't unlock.
This evening I checked App Store : Updates in the last 30 Days' there is no security update listed.
How do I fix my problems?
Has anyone else come across a phantom security fix in App Store?
System: OS El Capitan

**Using a Mac in isolation. No mac assistance near, Wexford, Ireland. I am my IT department. Hoping someone can shed some light on my problems. I have found no mention of anyone else having similar problems when I googled my issues. I’ve been using Mac since the late 1980’s (obviously not the one listed above though I do own a working Macintosh SE.)
Thank you, in advance for your assistance.
