Why does this site use light colored text on a white background? I agree that it is elegant in hard copy, but you are making life hard for we who are forced to read your stuff on a screen. If you will not darken your copy, please make it larger.

OK.

The FontSize is 18pt.

The FontFace is Myriad Set Pro Light

The FontColor is #333333 - a Dark Gray, the same color as the very bottom of the ramp of the REPLY button

Several of us folks employ Cascading Style Sheets to modify our experience. MOST think everything is too BIG.

If you are interested, our pal turingtest2 has a User Tip - Minimal CSS tweaks for ASC - that does a few things tha you might find helpful, especially if you are comfortable tweaking thing to your own taste like I do

these are excerpts from Minimal CSS tweaks for ASC

  1. First you need a way to get your CSS to override that of the site. To do this I use the add on Stylish for Chrome. See also Stylish for Firefox, Stylish for Safari, Stylish for Opera, and the website https://userstyles.org/ for more information. Sadly I'm not currently aware of any way to implement this on mobile devices such as iPads and iPhones.
  2. Then, go here and choose the {Install with Stylish} button
Apple Support Communities - Minimal - Themes and Skins for Apple - userstyles.orghttps://userstyles.org/styles/129130/apple-support-communities-minimal

You then can edit the style - choose the Stylish icon in your browser toolbar

then "Manage styles..." - then [Edit] the Minimal style

Change "font-size" values to taste (upward likely, I prefer smaller) - Apple stock AND Minimal are both 18px (Apple adopted 18px after tt2 suggested it)

Change "font-weight" values FROM 'normal' to a numeric value GREATER than 400 in 100 increments up to 900 which is BOLD

"font-color" is supposed to be BLACK = #000000, but it is Apple stock #333333 so for some reason (I am firing off a missive to turingtest2 right after I finish this for advice on HIS parameters)

I apologize for being obtuse. My complaint is with with the color choices of the Apple web site. Tiny fonts in very light colors on a bright white background violate graphic design rules for legibility, if legibility is on a list of positives somewhere.

Apple Style Guide seems in agreement with one of two "newspaper" sites in my hometown

Text is #333333 in color. EVERYBODY knows that SERIF fonts are easier to read, on paper and on screen!

Text on this one is BLACK #000000

For a more complete revamp of the ASC site is available. See the "Combined" user style sheet. You will need to use Firefox. For other web browsers, use Hiroto's modifications. See

Adjust the format and layout of ASC Web Pages

Here is what my ASC looks like:

What your senses perceive is a combination:

-- font size; combined uses a different font.

-- background color; resorts apple grey as the background color instead of the current white.

-- layout of the page. How far is the text separated? Text is put closer together.

probably much more. I do not know where or if apple is getting advice on web site construction, but it's going downhill in my view.

I have UPDATED the code > Adjust the format and layout of ASC Web Pages - Themes and Skins for Apple - userstyles.org
- for those with it already installed, it should show the need to update when visited

AND

created one for Hiroto's English > Adjust the format and layout of ASC Pages-HirotoEN - Themes and Skins for Apple - userstyles.org

should show this button for NOT being installed
