Q: Trouble sharing Seagate External HD!

The drive is probably formatted as NTFS. If so, you will need to use 3rd party software to access the drive or you will need to reformat the drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). If you still want to use it with Windows software, you will need to format it as FAT or EXFAT. Copy the files to another location before reformatting.

You will need to reformat the disk using the Disk Utility/Erase tab. The files will be erased, which is why I suggested you copy them somewhere else. The links are to 3rd part software programs which allow you to read/write to NTFS disks.

Yes. I haven't had the need to use the programs, so I can't recommend one over the other.
