Q: How to rename multiple files with specific names using an excel spreadsheet
I have just started working for a furniture start-up company and we are currently in the process of getting our website up and running. We have a substantial number of files needing to be renamed for this. For each type of furniture, we have the material used and the colour of the material. There is 344 products, 14 different materials and 20 colours of each material. I have been given the job of renaming all the photos with each product in it’s different material. Currently they have all been given old names to which I now need to add the new names the company has chosen for them. We have created an excel worksheet to easily formulate the new name against the old as the original plan was to use this to make it easier to copy and paste. Since scanning the web and doing a bit of research I can see that AppleScript would be a possibility. I also read a past question of the similar nature on here that had this as a solution but wasn’t quite sure how to tailor it to my activity. I am currently using Excel Version 15.25.1 on a MacBook Pro OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.6.
