I can't close system preferences

Hi Folks, I recently bought a new IPAD and couldn't remember my iCloud password or it didn't accept it. So I had to create a new one. Its caused all manor of problems.

My iMac is stuck in system preferences with the key chain password now incorrect. I can't quit out of system preferences or shut down the mac.
