Q: Unknown app asking for access to keychain

My network and internet access are working OK. However, the Airport utility says it can't find my Airport Extreme and the Airport Express [connected to my music system] that links to it.

All my devices are connected to the Extreme using WiFi.

Sometimes the Airport utility pops up on the iMac screen and then an unknown app asks for access to my keychain, which I deny.

This has started happening since I updated the firmware a few weeks ago. I have Back to my Mac turned off.

I can use the Airport utility on my iPad and it is all OK there, but not on my iMac.

Also, everything looks normal from my wife's Macbook.

So is it something on my iMac?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Try the following on your Mac in order, until (hopefully) resolved:

    1. Create a New User Account
      • System Preferences > Accounts
      • Click "+" to add a new account.
      • Log off, and then, log back on with the new user account.
      • If this resolves the problem, there may be something amiss with your current profile and will require further troubleshooting.
      • If this does not resolve the problem, go ahead and log back into your normal account and go on to the next step.
    2. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
      • Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilities.
      • In the windows on the left side: Select login for Keychains and "Passwords" for Category.
      • Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
      • Close Keychain Access.
      • Log out, and then, log back on to your normal user account.

    Please post back your results.
