Q: Cannot access my photos on iCloud: iPhoto or aperture required
Hey all,
So I just got my hands on a (second hand) Macbook Air. It had been wiped previously so I installed the OS from scratch. Currently OS X ver. 10.8.5. I have photo stream, and iCloud Photo Library settings enabled on my iPhone.
When I open System Preferences on my mac, and go to iCloud the option Photo Stream is greyed out (there is no "Photos" option). Underneath that it says "iPhoto or Aperture required" and a Learn More button next to it.
Upon clicking in Learn More it gives me links to download iPhoto and Aperture from the App store…however both are "No longer Available".
So basically, I have an entire library of photos on the iCloud, which I can't access without iPhoto/Aperture, which I can't get because they are no longer available…so my question is, how do I access my photos on my mac?

Neither iPhoto nor Aperture can be purchased anymore from the AppStore. Apple is no longer supporting these Applications.
TO use iCloud Photo Library upgrade the macbook air to El Capitan, if it is supported on your Model. then you can use Photos for Mac with iCloud.
or use the Web Interface at www.icloud.com and launch the Photos.app there.
you can purchase iPhoto on an ILife '11 installer Dvd and update it from Apple's support page to iPhoto 9.4.5. But IPhoto isno longer functioning fully on Mt. Lion, no places support and no print products.
