Q: 2016 macbook pro retina Poor battery

My Old 2010 17" MacBook Pro battery worked PERFECT.

Always had Ethernet & 2nd Display plugged up to the laptop.

It would stay OFF & unplugged while at work.

ON & Unplugged at Night while sleeping.

Plugged & On from 6pm - 10pm.

In the morning it would still have 97%+ battery while On / unused all night.

My ~NEW~ 2016 15" macbook pro retina battery  ***** !!

At night I would turn my Surge Protector OFF (Monitor & laptop plugs), as always.

Laptop ON, No programs running, sleep mode set for everything to sleep..

but In the morning the battery is 0% .. DEAD..

I've even UNPLUGGED the Monitor & Ethernet plugs with No Improvement.

I've followed apples " improving battery life" ( which I ALREADY had everything

set correctly)

Why would my 2010 17" Macbook Pro batter be  1,000+% Better (0-100%battery life)

than my ~New~ 2016 15" macbook pro retina battery??

Are we not suppose to IMPROVE on everything ?

Does Apple secretly have 2 Energizer AAA batteries from the 1970's hidden in their laptops battery pack??

MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 9.3.2

Now there are a Few Hardware differences between 2010 & 2016, but certainly

apple wouldn't change hardware ports that would KILL the battery..

and they certainly did not REDUCE the advertised battery life regarding the ports.

    example:

On the  2010 Macbook Pro I always had the mini-display port & the Ethernet

ports, USB (for wireless Logitech keyboard), & USB (kept my iphone plugged overnight)

----- and my battery ONLY reduced 3 or 4 %

2016 macbook pro retina battery...  I UNPLUG Everything : Thunderbolts, HDMI, USBS

and the battery DIES..   However, I guess.. the UNUSED Thunderbolts & HDMI

is pulling power --- even thought nothing is plugged in.

I do keep my Keyboard dongle plugged into the USB.. and I unplug my iphone USB.

SO, Last Night before bed, I UNPLUGGED EVERYTHING from the laptop,  Closed ALL Programs,  Turned the power strip OFF..

This morning the laptop WOULD NOT WAKE and the FAN was running FULL BLAST.. and the top, [Esc] [F1] [F2]

was HOT to the touch !!!   -- SCARY --

--- What would be running to make the laptop HOT ?   With it unplugged shouldn't EVERYTHING be asleep inside?

    -- Why wouldn't it wake ?

SO I tried different key combinations and finally got a  3+ paragraph Reboot screen ( like an error screen) and it woke up

    --- the batter was at 41% !!   ( better than 0% like it's been since I bought it )

NOTE:  EVERYTHING UNPLUGGED !!  No Programs Running, No Ethernet,  WIFI is OFF

I Do have the Battery percent & time showing up TOP on the finder menu bar..

    ..

This is freaky.. and seems  like a  APPLE created DAMAGING problem.

-- How could my $3,000.00 2010 Macbook Pro be SO MUCH BETTER than this $4,000 2016 MacBook pro?

====  HOW can I see what PROGRAMS has run While the Laptop was idle ????            =======

====  Activity Monitor seems to ONLY show what's running RIGHT NOW.. Not the past.=======
