Sep 9, 2016 8:19 AM in response to harlanfromcrestviewby Rysz,If you're getting the "pop up" your pressing down too hard, which activates 3D Touch functionality. Just long-tap (touch and hold) on the icon.
Note that most built in apps can't be deleted. You can put them into a folder and move the folder to the last screen, or wait for iOS 10, which will allow more control over them.

Sep 9, 2016 8:21 AM in response to harlanfromcrestviewby E the P,What apps are you trying to delete? If they are Apple apps that came pre-installed, e.g. Stocks, they cannot be deleted. Although in ios 10 you should be able to finally remove them.
