Q: I dropped my phone my macbook air keyboard and now the screen is not displaying properly

I have a mid-2013 macbook air with 8G RAM, 512G HD and i7 CPU.  I accidentally dropped my phone on the keyboard and for some reason my screen is now all messed up.  There is a segment of the screen that is about two inches wide and in the shape of an L where the vertical portion of the L is white and the horizontal portion of the L shows a spectrum of various colors.

I'm using a keyboard cover but for the life of me I can't explain why dropping something on the keyboard would make the screen all wonky.  So, the question is, did something happen to the board, the wiring, or the actual screen?  And, if so, what course of action do I take?  I should mention that I'm not averse to getting my hands dirty.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies, the Air.  Phone is in rugged case and unharmed.

It is not clear what device is broken, is the iPhone damaged or the Macbook screen?

Does the Macbook have a keyboard cover or are you referring to one of the iPad keyboard covers or something else?

It sounds like you need to take the damaged device to an Apple store for an inspection & a quote for a repair. It may be covered by Applecare or warranty if you have that, otherwise they will give you a quote for a repair. I doubt accidental damage is covered, but is is worth asking.

iOS & Mac laptops are not really devices that you ever want to repair yourself unless you can afford to destroy them. They are very difficult to repair & genuine Apple parts are not generally available. You will have to diagnose it before you know what to replace - the Macbook Air has the CPU & graphics below the keyboard, so a blow to that area can damage the logic board that contains all those sensitive components.

It is difficult to know what may have been displaced, Airs are tightly packed. I would suggest a trip to an Apple Store, make it their problem
