Q: can i return my new 6plus and purchase the 7plus?

I bought an iphone6 plus on Monday 9/5/16 because my old iPhone6 needed repair.  I decided to purchase new because the cost of repair was about the same as getting a new phone.  I purchased at the apple store through my wireless carrier, ATTs next plan.  Needed phone that day because of work so I couldn't wait for the release of the 7.  Can I now return my 6plus and purchase the 7plus?  As long as its within the 14day return period I should be ok, right?
