Sep 10, 2016 8:00 AM in response to michimsby LaPastenague,★HelpfulThis setup will not work .. unless the primary router is an apple airport of some sort. Is it?
It is a very poor setup even if you have apple airport as primary router.. it is much better to cable. I am guessing this is not possible.. if not then you another possible way around the problem is EOP (ethernet over power) adapters.
They are not going to work in all situations depending on the power cabling in the house.. but are better than wireless links when they do.
You show a Router (ISP) at the beginning point.. what router is that? If that is working as router.. none of the other devices should be setup as router.. having a primary router means that you have no router in front of it.
Give us some more details and we can help further.

yes, cable is not possible but I will try the powerline version - great idea!
I Have a Netgear R7000 as primary and the second one as bridge mode for TV etc. but in this setup the time machine does often not find the NAS drives connected to the bridge. Therefore I need to switch to a setup, where the primary router is the one with all the drives and TV connected via cable. But sadly the ISP connection is in a different room, so no cable connection possible. Hence the strange setup

Sep 10, 2016 9:07 PM in response to michimsby LaPastenague,Apple has definite issues with TM when connecting to non-apple routers.. and when over wireless bridges to which the computer has no direct connection. This is DNS problem and likely bonjour.
It is bad enough that it may be worth thinking about plugging in a USB drive.. local drives are far more reliable, far faster and well worth using rather than network drives for time machine.
