Q: When will they end OS Support?

So the mid-2009 Mac Pro's, 7 years later, don't run Sierra.

Does this mean if I buy a 'new' trashcan Mac Pro with 2013 vintage parts, will it run any OS past 2020? I'm worried that buying a new Mac Pro at $4-5k in the last months of 2016 will only give me a 4-year life cycle.

VIN,Mac Pro (Early 2009), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

For $4K-$5K for a mac that was released over 32 months ago I'd maybe hold off and see if the series is updated in the near future or consider a different platform if this is your concern.

FWIW The mid 2010 are eligible for 10.12. In fact that's what I have running right now on a 6 year old Mac.

Yeah, I'm actually considering buying a used 2010 in good shape and migrating all my drives and cards over to it while hoping that '17 brings something more pro-like and less cube-like.
