Q: macbook air 2014 "mcafee.loading-urls.com says:   Renew you mcafee license now to ensure your data, identity, and privacy are protected."

On my macbook air, 2014, OSx 10.11.6 - I keep getting this message

"mcafee.loading-urls.com says:

Renew you mcafee license now to ensure your data, identity, and privacy are protected."

It won't let me close the page unless, I click the link

It won't let me move around the site I am on, since it keeps returning me to the homepage or generates another screen with a similar message

the strategy of going to the activity monitor in Utilities did not show the site

going over the url to verify it was blocked

help, please

remove Macafee and any other "Anti-Virus" from the computer using the developers directions on their webpage.

These forums are writhe with users who have mangled the OS and crippled their macs installing these sub-ferior applications which have never been faced with an actual mac virus nor developed in conjunctions with Apple.

they cause far more problems than the perport to fix.

You are in your own right to disagree and continue to jeopardize your Mac with this crap, but if so you need to pursue this with Macafee support.

As far as I know, I don't have any anti-virus software on my macbook.

"mcafee.loading-urls.com" seems illegitimate to me. If there really never has been any "McAfee" product installed on that Mac, the following may be relevant: Phony "tech support" / "ransomware" popups and web pages.

In their increasing desperation to assert continued relevance in a post-Windows PC era, "anti-virus" peddlers may be reduced to following the same sordid marketing strategies used by "MacKeeper". I cannot confirm "McAfee" is doing that, but you ought to remain vigilant for such tactics should they be used now or in the future.

you may wish to run Malwarebytes for mac which is free and will remove any malware/adware on your mac that is is aware of. MWB does not protect against these attacks, but has been used to dispatch them. While no method is 100% MWB is commonly recommended and used on the the forums by many of us and developed by a frequent contributor to this site:

    to reset safari

with Safari open go to Safari>Clear History

    Safari>Preferences / Advanced

enable Show developer bar in menu

    go to Develop>Empty Cache

    Quit out of Safari

launch Safari holding down the SHIFT key

if you are unsure as to what else is on your computer you can post an etrecheck report here for further analysis.
