Q: video not playing in iMovie why?

Why can't I see video in iMovie? I hear the audio and see the clips.

    What version of iMovie and OS are you using? There is a known incompatibility with iMovie 8 and 9 when using El Capitan 10.11.x. The problem relates to video not appearing especially with photos while sound is unaffected. If you are using these earlier versions of iMovie this may well be your problem.
