If I just want to add devices to find if necessary do I have to enter credit card on family sharing.
How do I enter devices to find if lost or misplaced? I do not want to do family sharing and add a credit card.

just log in with iCloud (settings > iCloud) and turn on 'Find my iPhone'
you don't need to provide your credit card number or set up family sharing for that.
