I created an Apple ID a long time ago with a gmail email address. Then I signed up for @me email address. I started using that instead of my gmail address I used when creating an Apple ID. Then iCloud came around and now I am using an iCloud email address.
I already know that Apple will not let me use @iCloud email address as my Apple ID. (I will never understand why they wouldn't want their customers using their domain as their ID.) Anyway I used to be able to change my primary email address for my account to my iCloud email so that all my receipts from iTunes, notifications from Apple, and anything Apple sends me to my iCloud address instead of my gmail address.
Is there a way to change it because I deleted my Google account and thus have no access to that gmail email address that I originally signed up for. I don't care that my Apple ID isn't @iCloud, I just want my primary email address to be @iCloud. I don't want to create a new Apple ID on my phone that will let me create an Apple ID using the iCloud domain and use that because I have thousands of dollars wrapped up into iTunes purchases and that is just not an option for m
