Q: 2012, 21.5" iMac won't boot, no startup chime, incomplete progress bar, screen goes to black.

The iMac worked great last night, this morning it will not boot up. There is no startup chime, the screen is white followed by the Apple logo, followed by the Progress Bar moving slowly to 3/4 of the bar, stays there for many minutes and then the screen goes black. I have moved the iMac to different locations in the house. (Different circuits).

The Internet sources I have tried (numerous times) include hold the Shift Key then the power button, hold the Command & S key then the power key, hold the Command and R key then the power button, other key combinations were tried with no success. Command and R key got me to the Disk Utility where I tried Repairing. One repairing attempt came back as failed, other repairs were successful but still unable to boot my iMac.

Is my iMac dead? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.1.x)
