Why does Apple supply a 10 W charger with the iPad air 2 when computer barn and hundreds of people on the web are saying that it needs a 12 W charger because Apple changed their software and the10 W charges the iPad very slow .

A 10W charger works perfectly well. A 12W charger might be slightly faster to charge under some conditions.

Apple sells the 12W charger because it will work across ALL iDevices and in most cases will charge iDevices faster for those iDevices that use a lower wattage charger.

Some iDevices, like the iPad Pro models use the 12W charger, already.

You have the option of sticking with the supplied 5 or 10W charger in the box or paying Apple $20 for the 12W charger and use it with every iDevice you own.

Large iPad Pro users have the option of purchasing and using Apple's MacBook 29W charger with the special USB-C cable to charge the large iPad Pro in 3 hours instead of 5-6 hours.
