Hi everyone! How to remove Links Sponsored by Taboola?
Hi everyone!
My Mac is a OSX 10.8.5 and I am unable to remove Taboola, probably (I´m not sure) an adware or malware. Someone help me!

One comment... Taboola ads are completely normal on many websites. If you are trying to get rid of ads that are completely normal, you'll need an ad blocker.
On the other hand, if you are seeing Taboola ads on a site where they don't belong, it may be adware, as Carolyn indicates.
Thank you both. In fact I have seen Taboola on sites that did not used to see. And the biggest problem has been the performance of my browsers, which are extremely slow. I had tried Malwarebytes and nothing worked. I do not know what to do.
Hello Hedfari,
I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what adware is installed. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etrecheck.com, run it, and paste the results here. EtreCheck is perfectly safe to run, does not ask for your password to install, and is signed with my Apple Developer ID.
If adware is installed, EtreCheck will help you remove it, although you may have to supply a password. If you aren’t comfortable with that, just post the EtreCheck report here and other helpers can tell you exactly what files need to be deleted and how to do so.
And if you do have some new adware that MalwareBytes is missing, then please contact MalwareBytes directly before deleting it in EtreCheck so that it can be added to their database.
Disclaimer: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

Taboola is a company that provides a service to website 'publishers' using:
A content discovery platform is an implemented software recommendation platform which uses recommender system tools. It utilizes user metadata in order to discover and recommend appropriate content, whilst reducing ongoing maintenance and development costs. A content discovery platform delivers personalized content to websites, mobile devices and set-top boxes.

That said, any website that did NOT utilize Taboola may START at any time.
It would still be helpful to see screenshots and URLs of sites so that we can better judge whether appropriate.
Please run EtreCheck and post the report regarding the slowdown - you have as participants in this conversation BOTH of the authors of the software mentioned - and THEY are the smartest folks regarding these subjects known
For the record, I wouldn't take it as gospel than an external USB 2 device has failed if you get these kinds of errors. EtreCheck just reports that there were kernel I/O errors. With internal hard drives that are known to fail after 2-3 years, a failed drive is a pretty good guess. But externals? I just don't know. They also fail on a regular basis, especially portable ones. But they are also much more likely to be affected by software and USB issues. The drive itself could be fine.
Okay. In fact I use an HD External corresponding to such information. It has 500 GB and is with 124.44 GB free. What about the Malware or Adware? When my internet is off my mac it works normally. Just get on the internet that it is slow, very slow to tell the truth. Are there any tips to find out what is catching my mac when I open a browser? Anyway thank you all who are trying to help me.
Very possible it's adware or malware ...
You can use the Malwarebytes free utility to remove it.
Then click Download.
Are you seeing them on this web page — the one you're using to post this Discussion?
In that regard, post a screenshot of just what you are seeing
Can you give an example of a site where you see Taboola ads where you think they shouldn't be?
The EtreCheck shows your HD is failing.
Replace it. I would replace with an SSD
'The Links Sponsored by Taboola just seem to be advertising on that website. Many website have such advertisements
Taboola ads appear to be normal for that site.
Which HD you're talking about. External HD?
