Have you tried activating Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer and activating Home Sharing on your iPad in the Settings app under the Video settings panel?

Rentals of iTunes movies are restricted to the device or computer they are rented and downloaded to.

    Using iTunes Home Sharing.

You CAN Home Share from iTunes on your computer to your iPad via Wifi.

You chose the wrong person to mark solved!

Did you follow the Home Sharing instructions?

    It works!

You need to enable Home Sharing both in iTunes on your Mac and on your iPad.

You do this by using your Apple ID and password in iTunes and your iPad (in the Settings App in the left hand column under the Videos Settings panel) to enable Home Sharing on both devices.

Leave iTunes up and running on your Mac.

Turn down the volume on your Mac.

You then go into the Videos App on your iPad and choose the sharing tab and waiting until all of your iTunes video content, from your Mac, appears in the Sharing screen.

Then choose the iTunes rental and hit the play button to start streaming from your Mac to your iPad over WiFi.

This works for iTunes rental movies when downloaded to iTunes on a computer instead of the actual iDevice.

I have done this a few times!
