Q: A Couple Questions/Details About iPhone Upgrade Program

Good evening all.

I have two questions about the iPhone Upgrade Program.

1. Here is my scenario (for math's sake)

The total cost of iPhone 7 is $720. Based on the 24 month span of the payments, that would be $360/year, or $180/6 months. If I enroll in this program and pay $30 a month for six months, ($180) and then pay for the remaining six months to upgrade early ($360 for the 12 months), where is the other half of the phone's total cost going, ($360)?

2. I seen a note about honoring the commitments with my carrier, so if I currently owed $300 on my current phone, would I have to pay that off and then be able to trade that in for the new one tied to the program?

Thanks.

    1. Paying only half the total cost of the phone is one of the benefits of the program. Apple recoups it by having a guaranteed customer and by getting your phone, refurbishing it, then selling it.

    2. With the program, you have no phone payback contract with the carrier. It's your phone. You only pay for cellular service.
