Q: Chargers of all kinds die after just a month or two of use.

I haven't tracked down an existing answer to this question, so hopefully it's not a repeat.

Basically, any charger I use with my iPhone dies after just a month or two of use--or less.  I always buy Apple-certified chargers, and this is even true of actual Apple chargers.

The chargers are in pristine condition when it happens, and it doesn't seem as though the phone or the charger is overheating. The one common factor is that they're often most commonly used to charge from my Macbook rather than a wall charge. Could that have something to do with? Or could my phone be the cause?

Thanks!

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.4

Are you talking about the charger or the cable?

If you're talking about the charger, then you should have your home power line inspected for possible issues.

If it's your cable, then try charging your phone using a different power source to see if that helps.  If it does, then perhaps your laptop's USB port has issues.

You seem to be describing 2 scenarios.

A charger would not be used in conjunction with a Macbook. A charging cable would.

A charger is typically 2 pieces of hardware. A part that plugs in to an ac outlet, and the cable from that piece to your phone. Which piece are you having issues with?

If t's the part that plugs in to the wall, I would have my wiring checked.

Do these purchases not come with a warranty of some sort? There is no reasonable explanation for them to fail at such a rate.

What are the specs on the chargers you are buying? Wattage?
