Sep 10, 2016 3:10 AM in response to drversaceby léonie,How can i see the original pictures of the PHOTOs library?
I want to access the original location of the photos of the PHOTOS app. please can someone guide me how i can do that?
Photos for mac can only reveal the original files in the Finder, if a photo has not been copied into the library when you imported it. Only files referenced outside the library can be revealed in the Finder.
if you imported the originals, but need a copy of the original file, use "File > Export > Export unmodified original ..." to produce a copy for you. The imported photos inside the library package are organized in a way that makes it hard for humans to access them; they are organized as Photos needs them and linked with many database files.
If you abl´solutely must inspect the original in the library to trouble shoot a problem with unreadable files or similar, you can use the third party application Power Photos. If you open your Photos Library in Power Photos you can use the command "Reveal in Finder" to show you the original file.
Also i want to files to be saved in the external hard drive with the original dates of the pictures taken.
if you export to an external drive the photos will have the file creation date of the export. but the original capture date will be stored in the EXIF tags of the image file. Most photo applications will be able to show you the original capture date.
