connect apple tv to personal hotspot

I've been able to use my Personal Hotspot with the Roku Ultra for the last few months, but I have not been successful in connecting my Apple TV that I've just purchased. I'm not sure why it would be different? I have an iPhone 7plus running IOS 10.3.2. I too, would appreciate any help. I would prefer to use the Apple TV for my entertainment.

You will want to make sure you have unlimited data and contact your carrier about details as most don't allow for this type of usage.

For what it is worth I just tried it here and I was able to connect my Apple TV 4 using the password displayed in the personal hotspot settings on my iPhone.

As vazandrew said it is possible that your carrier prevents use as a personal hotspot, although I'd expect something other than a password error message if that were the case.

I would advise against it, your carrier will start throttling after a certain threshold and if used long term this would be deemed a violation of their fair usage policy.
