Q: connect apple tv to personal hotspot

Greetings. I'm trying to connect my apple TV to my iPhone personal hotspot so I can stream some shows. The apple TV sees the personal hotspot but keeps coming back with this error message when I type in the password. "There was a problem connecting to the network. the Wi-Fi password you entered is not correct. Try again. (-3914)"

I know I have entered the password correctly and I've tried 4 different times but it still doesn't work. Any help is appreciated.

You will want to make sure you have unlimited data and contact your carrier about details as most don't allow for this type of usage.

For what it is worth I just tried it here and I was able to connect my Apple TV 4 using the password displayed in the personal hotspot settings on my iPhone.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe my Apple TV is too old. But it did recognize the wi-fi hotspot, so I thought it work. Perhaps not (evidently not?).

As vazandrew said it is possible that your carrier prevents use as a personal hotspot, although I'd expect something other than a password error message if that were the case.
